Termites
Termites are commonly known as the ‘silent destroyers’, and can cause Americans up to $5 billion in damages annually.
Adult termites range from 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in length. The queens and kings are larger, capable of reaching over one inch long. The workers are typically soft-bodied and pale-colored and flying termites have two pairs of prominent wings.
Termites usually settle in wooden structures, tree stumps and soil. The specifics of the preferred habitat vary on the species, but all termites require a minimum amount of moisture for the place to be a suitable environment.
All termites consume cellulose-based materials, which unfortunately includes the walls of almost all modern houses, furniture and a whole lot of other things.
